Performancing vs Flock Blog Editor

After Flock’s Blog Editor problems such as always on top, and some related freak bugs, I decided to take Scribez advice and test out Performancing, which is supposed to have a lot more features than our Deepest Sender rip off within Flock.

I was told exactly this…

Performancing is far more advanced than What Flock has.

And I can confirm that’s true. Performancing has far more text formatting options, performance metric analysis, technorati search, and del.icio.us connection all built into the plugin. As a blogging tool, it would probably and I guess it does, rate EXTREMELY High! You can do whatever you want from within that. Add it to Flock with the Flickr support and it becomes quite the handy blogging tool you need. :-D !!

One of the best features I liked about it was the integration of it into the current window you are viewing. Plus the resizing ability. It’s so helpful when you wanna view something while blogging as most often is the case, like that link you wanted to remember, or the photo link you were planning to post of… etc.

However geek or no geek, blogger or no blogger, the interface for Performancing SUCKS big time. The colors are nothing but yucky! The font is drab. They should have put in some customizable template thingy man. It would have been so much better, if you can make it look like your Flock/Deepest Sender editor and inside the window u are working on.

Man, I have some ideas for them, and as usual, I still consider that I should have been a consultant in Product Management.

Anyhoo, as an offtrack information, Flock is behaving weirder day by day and with the Blog Editor, open implies, sometimes even managing to go crazy trying to find the Download Window as somehow the context is held by Blog Editor

Practice much?

F***ing awesome guitar playing man!!!

Practice Much?

Let the numbers keep rolling!! *Sniff Sniff* I am feeling emotional!!

Btw, note to self and some advice: TT has a very appeasing effect when you are bugged. Hit some shots and you are back to normal! Oh yeah, also a scream into the wild in your office corridor helps. At the very least, it will help you out to get some glances, weird tho it mite be. But, then life’s back to normalcy again!!

If it’s easy to get control of life back again, I don’t mind dipping once in a while ;-) ! Hehehe! And yeah, it’s tough to maintain a life in which you are happy all the while. Boy, I realised that today!!

10,005 hits and counting…

I've reached a personal milestone in my blogging life :-D !! [To quote G-Dawg]. :-D !! This blog has reached 10,005 hits and counting…

Thanks to all the people who have commented, visited and checked this blog!! Thanks a ton pals!! :-) !!!

To celebrate, I am gonna go watch the Kick off today in a giant screen amidst some beers :-D !!! Hic… hurray!!!

Well, here's my Thank you speech!!

I thank all the people who have visited this blog and have helped me reach this milestone. Personally it's a great thing for me. It would have been done without you guys! Mom, Dad, God for actually helping me through the process for generating thoughts, ramblings, rantings etc! My mum and dad especially for the genes they have imparted to me. For all the situations that caused me to get ideas, thought processes, and for the ability to express myself well. It was all due to speaking in English and Tamil at home :-D !!

To all my bum chums – S-Dawg, H-Dawg, Ar-Dawg, G-Dawg and A-Dawg, and Arijit-Dawg, Lax Dawg, and Sonz Dawg to come and read, post comments and give their uhum criticisms of the blog :-D !

Special mention to Baba who's probably been there quite some time!! ;-) ! Thanks baba!! :-D !
To Divs, Sukhi, ontheverge, Ms. Imperfect for regularly checking on my blog. To sony ericsson and salora international for their imbecile antics so that I could come up with a blog that got me 50% of the hits :-D !

To all the people who have visited but not commented exactly on the posts :-D !!

Danke one and all :-) !!!

P.S. just to note that I haven't caused any hits on my own blog :-D , take a look at the second pic. WordPress says that it doesn't count my own visits to the blog!

Page views, Blog stats, Hits…

Page views… Blog stats… The graph going up and down… I love ‘em, I hate ‘em. Confused? Don’t ask me to explain… Well don’t… Oh ok… fine…

There was a time, when I used to blog about things that really mattered to me – my life. What happened in my life. What I read, what I think… etc. It was completely satisfying when I used to get about 3 hits a day. I have come 50 times that. Then I talked with Harsh. He told me about monetizing blogs and I got crazy. It led me to a hit maniac. I started checking my hits every 5 minutes. I made a small program. It just checks how many times I have pressed what key – something like a key logger. I completely forgot about it…

Today, I just checked the log file that it has created. I have pressed the F5 key about 20,000 times. :o I am shocked and apalled. I have gone crazy. It roughly comes to about pressing the F5 key every 10 mins. I never imagined that my poor keyboard has suffered so much. :-( ! No, it still hasn’t taken over the total key logs of other keys! Even then, I have become a stat-junkie, which is crazy, considering the fact that I am not making _any_ money out of my wordpress blog.

Today, I am getting back to my normal self. I am not going to be bothered about my stats anymore. It’ll go up, come down. Whatever. I don’t care. :-D !! I will not stop blogging about my life. I started blogging with 2 objectives
-> upgrade my PHP coding skills [done]
-> Maintain an online journal as to what I have been doing. [still in the process] ;-) !

Anyway, now I am just making sure that I will continue this blogging as part of its original program and not about blog stats. ;-) !

But, just to point out… I will be happy the day I touch 10,000 page views. :-D !! Let the good times roll….

Btw, check out the prestidigitator by PS. I like the way he writes. It’s not flowery, it’s powerful!! :-) ! Keep it coming along dude!!

WordPress themes and Fauna

Aaah, WordPress – I have been forever satisfied with the overall migration from blogger to my handcoded Content Management System and then from there to WordPress. Furthermore, wordpress.com has been one of the most reliable servers that has been hosting my blog as well :-) ! Well, except when it decides to get human ;-) ! Hehee!

Anyhoo, wordpress blog templates have been easily one of the best I have seen! Now with the additionof widgets, and etc, WordPress is providing the ability to customize the provided templates! Actually, the idea is nice and new! Unlike blogger, where you have almost complete customizability of color and what not, WordPress works on templates. You have information content management customizability over the templates! New, innovative, yes! How nice? Well, left to see :-) !

Well, I am happy with some of the themes out there!

Hemingway is a top-fav of mine! There are others like Andreas04, Andreas15 that I like. However, the concept of a simple straightforward, good looking template – there are only 2 that I really rank way up there – Hemingway and Fauna!

Hemingway has been my choice for quite some time now! But, what I have seen is that while the new templates are getting support with loads of widgets and blah, Fauna has been completely looked over! Why? Is it because WordPress has some stats counter which tell 'em not many people use Fauna? I dunno! I mean, comon, Fauna doesn't even have support to show all the links you have at least in 1 category! I had to delete all my categories to put all my blogroll links back onto the site! Which makes me a bit frustrated!

This hopefully goes to the notice of WordPress! I mean, please get some support for Fauna people! It's really really good :-) !

Btw, the latest addition the BlogStats widget is good! Unfortunately, I can't keep it my site now can I? :-( !

Please get it away from beta 1 to the next state please!! :-D !!

Blog Mad!

Hmm… Came across the link of Blog Mad at Vi's blog! I have to agree with her! Blog Mad, has certainly increased the traffic and the hits to my site!

Things that I liked about Blog Mad!

- Deadly UI [esp the login]
- Nice Look and feel [I love the blue thing they have going on in there]
- Decently categorized links

Things they could have done better

- Drop down/Java script based lists for each of the sidebar links [Esp with them using a WordPress sorta UI], my bad!! They did have a cool UI there as well :-D !!
- Better icon man! The icon looks like one from Looney Tunes :-D !
- More number of credits on initial start up!
- Better Credit and blog traffic stats!

Another interesting thing that I came across at Blog Mad – VARB! View A Random Blog, and the rating you can give to the blog! Gives you a pretty good idea of how people actually rate your blog on a scale of 1-10! You can vote for Ramblings of an Eccentric Soul… in VARB, through this link- Vote for me!!

Also, you can just click on this pic!!

Varb For MeAnyhoo, I am back to work now! My phone's working! Things are kinda nice overall, especially with the fact that I may soon be blogging from Forccheim, Germany! :-) !

Aaah… New Themes!

I just love Hemingway! The theme is simply superb! It gives a very professional look to your blog! And it’s unconventional in its design that you have to visit each blog to read the entire contents, giving the reader the choice to actually choose which blog to read! At the same time, it does justice to the blogger by providing the recent posts and categories [with its titles if you hover the mouse over the category] and provides more traffic to the individual blogs!

A nice summary is provided along with each blog so that the number of comments, the categories the blog belongs to etc is mentioned! Then why the hell have I changed my theme you ask? Well, it’s simple really, just trying out the sidebars! And well, just simply trying the themes out! Comon the authors/creators of the theme have spent quite a valuable time of theirs to make their themes, and it’s justice that you should at least try it out! :-) !

On another vein, both of the new themes – Andreas 0.4 and Thirteen – have done a decent job with the sidebars and additional options!

Btw, I wanted to mention this ages ago! Kudos to WordPress for providing such an amazing UI for the normal blogger! Although I rarely use the native WordPress blog editor anymore, thanks to Deepest Sender and before that – the Flock Blog editor, the UI was of immense use! :-) !
